the same thing happened to a copy of san adreas i used to own.
This sounds crazy but my dad managed to get the scratch out by using autoglym and a sunglasses cloth. Autoglym is polish for cars which can be used for getting out fine scratches. Any similar product will work.
Just be very careful and don't hold me responsible if it ruins it!
Alternatively you could try sending it to a company that specialises in disk repair, or you could buy a special disk cleaning kit, although from my experiences the disk cleaning kits are a pile of crap.

As the others have said, don't tilt your XBOX with a game in disc player. Yes, you can fix the scratch, go to youtube and search for perfect circle scratch or similar. The scratch is not all the way to the disc media, it's only in the plastic. I've fixed many of them but I have a cloth buffing wheel on a bench grinder so it's very easy. Hope that helps!

Depending oh now deep the scratch is, it can be fixed. Take the disk to your local game store. A lot of them have disk scratch removal machines they will put it in for a few bucks. I know Game Crazy has them as they cleaned up some used games I was going to buy from them that had scratches.

Same thing happened to a game of mine. I have some really fine buffing compound that I got from a plastics store. I used that and it worked great. It's basically the same stuff they sell in music stores as scratch removers for a cd. Only difference is that I got 10 times as much of it at the plastics store for about $1 more.

a disc doctor will fix that right up. My buddy scratched up his Gears disc by moving the 360 while it was playing. He bought that 20 dollar disc docter, and its flawless now. i've used it for other games, and it has yet to fail.

Nope, nothing you can do. I heard there was some sort of exchange program where you could get a new copy for 20usd. Don't know how it works since we don't have that here in asia.
