I think you're trying to impose your own beliefs or bigotry on something totally unrelated. The creators of the show just created a species by exagerating a few traits already present in humans. It's a classic SF technique. Vulcans are extremely logical, klingons are warlike, kzinti are huge feline warriors, the women of Barsoom are all breathtakingly beautiful, and lensmen are more honorable than boy scouts.

Funny, I had the same thought! They seem to be a caricature of a stereotype. It is difficult to say whether that was deliberate or subconscious on the part of the writers.
