When I turn on my computer the light that is supposed to come on doesn't. I can see my background and all of my programs when I shine a flashlight at it. Everything else works. I tried restarting it and letting it sit for a few days but I don't know what else to try. I can't afford to get it checked out right now so I want to see if their is any way I can fix it. All sugestions are appreciated.

If your screen backlight isn't coming on that is something that you want to get fixed, it's either a dead panel or a dead inverter (if you're really lucky you've just turned the brightness down, try pressing whatever key combination is used to increase brightness), if your computer is under warranty it should be a free repair (if it's not be prepared to pay a bit).

I know it's a stupid question, but have you tried changing the brightness on the monitor?
