Actually we (the entire country) are stuck in a quagmire we don't even know we are in. It is the coup of our government in 2000.

Without Progressivism, Liberalism, Conservatism, Libertarianism etc. we would be more of a totalitarian state. America is a land of diversity, when politicians start dividing us FIRE them!

Lighten up a bit it is the mixture that makes it work. Start messing with the mixture and you get what we have today a completely detached citizenship, ripe for the plucking. If you don't think we are currently being plucked, remove the blinders.

Progressivism is more like regressivism to me. Anything that preaches that people CANNOT succeed on their own and seeks to force them into dependency is not progress. We need to teach people that they can achieve and that those of us born into the lower economic classes can and do rise up into higher income brackets through hard work and sacrifice as well as making intelligent choices in our lives. Everyone has the ability to succeed. Having a safety net to aid people is one thing, having an entire class of people dependent for generations is another.

You could tell them that Theodore Roosevelt is dead and that their branch of the Republican Party has not had a presidential candidate since 1948 (Henry Wallace).

Today, it is not as big a problem as it once was. America is what it is today because of this, for without large corportations, we probably would not be living as good as we do. Sometimes it's better to think inside the box...

Tie then down and make them listen to Rush Limbaugh 24/7. That should do it. Rush is so kind, thoughtful, reasonable and honest that no one could resist his soft fuzzy persona.

last time i check the 'progresives' were ex-hippies from the 60's; they're against vietnam vets, pro jane fonda, and like lsd, and colorful fabrics. A very large number is dead by now.
