I am Romanian. Gypsies are people from South India who came to Romania. Why are people so uneducated that they think Romanians of Latin descent are Gypsies....?

Also how are South Indians Romanian? They don't have Romanian blood. You can live here but your not Romanian.

For the same reasons 'people' think that all Southern US whites are supremacists, Big City black are the 'N' word. Middle Easterners own 7-11's, Irish are drunks, and so on and so on and so on... It's the general stereotype that has been perpetuated through time and media entertainment.
If it *looks* like a duck...

{{{Smoochy}}} I went through a phase in my teens when I found Romania fascinating, and found out a bit about it {I'm interested in the wild wolves!}. So, I know full well that the Roma {or other gypsies that claim to be Romany}, are not the same thing as the general Romanian people. In fact, it wasn't until news articles a few years ago that I even realised Romania has a high gypsy population. There is a similar problem here in Britain: Many 'travelling people', including people who just felt like leaving static life, claim rights as gypsies, yet Roma / Romany Gypsies are a particular group. Also, there is a difference between the gypsies who, whilst keeping their traditions alive, work to earn their living, and those who claim the rights of being gypsy but are nothing more than thieves and vandals avoiding paying-their-way. And before anyone gets the wrong idea, from what we can trace of my maternal ancestory I have connections to Georgian Gypsies in the 1800s. I also respect those gypsies who still take a pride in a honest day's work.

Gypsies are dirty Indians from India-Punjab.
Romanians are 100 percent Europeans Thracian-Latin-Slavic.
Any educated person knows that this is written on wikipedia and Youtube clips.

Really, I didn't think Romanians were Tsigan. But, I'm from a country where they are common, so I can tell the difference.
Although I know a lot of Tsigan's both from Romania and my home country.

Gypsies are often called Roma or Romani.
As Paris Hilton was named for a famous city, presumably both the gypsy group and the Romanian country were named for Rome.
To further complicate the genealogy, the ruling clan in Russia was the Romanovs.

Well, no one knows everything about people. In my world "gypsy" is a pejorative word and we refer to the group as the
"Roma" people. It's really impossible to determine who is who with ethnic groups. IE who is black, white, hispanic, native american, etc. You sound like you think gypsies are lower class and you don't want to be confused with them. you should look more closely at this issue.
or instead of accusing others, just start educating the world about romanian history and population trends.

It is because we don't educate ourselves about that and just believe what ever Hollywood is telling us. We just take it for fact and dont' bother to research anything.
