Depends on size since it absorbs water and because of that weight either sinks or floats if its size is tiny.

Depends on the size. Large will sink if totally submerged same with small. Both will float until they soak up to much water then they both will sink. The small one will still float though if you just put it on top of the water.

It depends on the surface area and the amount of water it can displace. For example, the ship can only float in sea not in a lake because it can't displace more water. Likewise it is for the piece of cloth. If the piece of cloth is so small then it will surely sink.

Anything will sink once it becomes water logged. Even a small piece of cotton will eventually sink. The reason, water is heavier and once it saturates an item it will sink. Plastic if air tight won't because water can't absorb into the structure of plastic. On the other had if it looses it's air it will sink because it's structure is heavier than water.

From experience.....it floats. When I open the washing machine, it usually has cash floating on top. Cash is made primarily of cotton.
