Well, I'm caring for my son who has the full-on flu -- you know, body aches, chills, fever, etc. Does that count as a good deed?

A good deed should be something that you don't seek recognition for. It's just great to help someone else out and maybe somebody will do the same for you one day. It would feel wrong to me to say, "I did xxxx for Jane Doe" because then it would feel like I did it more for me than for the other person/animal/whatever.

i agree with jen. do something nice for someone just because you want to -- not because you expect a pat on the back. always remember, no good deed goes unturned!
