Autumn, 'cause I'm in the UK - though, when you think about it, 'Fall' is a much simpler, more evocative and appropriate word for that time of year!

I wonder what the Canadians say...

When I was a kid, it was always Autumn (remember the song Autumn Leaves). But over the past 10-20 years it has become fall in the US. Hardly ever hear Autumn anymore except for the occasional use of the adjective autumnal.

Autumn, because it's a prettier word. I'm in the Netherlands, but when in America, people never believe I'm from another country when they hear me speak.
I was taught in school that autumn is absolutely incorrect in American English. I was glad to discover that this certainly isn't the case. It's just that more people use the word fall.

I live in England and we always call it "Autumn" I must admit that "Fall" sounds more appopriate because of all the beautiful falling leaves. It really is a most amazing season. The leaves at the moment are in an abundance of glories colours.Silver leaves from the "Silver Birch Tree" and lots of copper and red and brown leaves carpet the country lanes along with Horse Chestnut trees shedding 'Conkers".(That's English slang for Horse Chestnuts)I don't know whether you have these in America.but they are lovely and shiny.
