Don't... it costs a fortune and Prague cabbies are VERY surly, get a navette bus or a service bus down to the Metro station - that will cost you unde a quid....

Taxis in Prague are notoriously expensive. I've been to Prague twice, and both times I got the hotel where I was staying to organise a driver to pick us up and bring us to the hotel for a reasonable price, I think it was 20 Euro. As the airport is about 40 minutes from the city centre, this was quite a good rate, and we could just pay for it with the hotel bill.

When you're in the city centre, use the public transport system, it's cheap, fast and everywhere. You can buy a 1-day or 3-day pass at any 'Tabak' shop for very little money, with this you can use all the trams, the metro and even the funicular going up Petrin Hill.

Have to agree with previous comment about untrustworthy taxi drivers in Prague.

We went to Prague, by coach took a taxi from the terminal to the hotel, and as it seemed a long way out of town, used them several times during our stay.

It was not until we were leaving that our attention was drawn to a notice at the hotel reception that listed the maximum fares permitted in town, and also the highest fare that was allowed for journeys to and from the airport.

In every instance, except one, where we had used a taxi, the maximum fare had improperly been charged, and it was only when we asked the reception clerk to call us a taxi to get back to the bus station, we were told that it was only a 5 minute walk, so perhaps we did not need one!!!

There is only 1 taxi company you should use in Prague and even then I wouldn't do it because who is to say they aren't painting their taxicab like the 1 good taxi company. Every guide I have ever read and anybody I know who has gone to Prague (including myself) has always told about never ever taking a Prague taxi cab.

If you are at a good hotel and they get the taxi for you then you can feel safer, but I wouldn't risk it.

Prague has been considered as one of the most wonderful cities on the planet since Middle Ages and you understand maybe not eliminate the chance to notice it, with hotelbye . Adjectives such as “golden“, “city of one hundred spires“, “the crown of the world“ were related to Prague and for a reason. The Historic Centre of Prague that's been on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 1992 and with its 866 hectares is the greatest historic city centre with this number in the world and that is just one of the wonderful areas Prague must offer.

Buses from the airport are dead cheap -approx a crown for return trip. taxis will set u back about 30 crowns but u do get taken directly to ure hotel or wherever. Most of the drivers are quite good as there are regular audits.

departure: Letiště (airport)
arrival: Václavské náměstí (Wenceslas Square)

AAA price: approx. 460-500 CZK plus traffic waiting (5 CZK/min)
max. price: approx. 525-565 CZK plus traffic waiting (6 CZK/min)

AAA Taxi is pretty good from my personal experience... but bus is going to be way cheaper (about 20CZK instead of 500 - 600 CZK).

Enjoy Prague!
