As we think we are! We create our own reality. We think we deserve to feel sorry for ourselves, but why? We cause everything that happens in our lives so why do we choose to be unhappy? or depressed? Choose life! A happy one!

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is currently the first-line treatment for clinical depression. CBT is a tried and tested type of therapy proving as the most effective treatment in almost all clinical trials (RCT, etc). You should contact your local health board and arrange an appointment with a mental health professional (usually a clinical psychologist) trained in CBT.
There are also plenty of self-help materials out there based on CBT principles designed for depression if this is a mild case. Nonetheless an appointment with a mental health professional will provide you with an assesment of your condition and its severity.
I've provided a link which describes some of the basic CBT concepts.
Hope this helps:

I believe there are two kinds of depression. Normal depression and clinical depression. In simple terms, normal depression is depression that has a real cause. For instance if your beloved pet suddenly dies, it is normal to be depressed.
But if everything is going well in your life but you still feel overwhelmingly depressed, that is clinical depression. For that you need professional help. There are many therapies for it.
For simple bouts of depression which may occur from time to time find ways to deal. I rarely experience depression but it does happen. I try to push it away and look at it logically. I fight back by forcing myself to get up and "act happy". I set the clock early and get up and make myself go out and do things. I walk, start a project whatever. It always snaps me out of it.

If it is just a short lived depression, focus on making others happy. When you do that, it will make you happy. Spend time with a neighbor, help them plant flowers, or run an errand for them. If your depression has been with you for more than 3 weeks, you need to see a therapist.

Depression is a state of mind..if you allow your mind to allow all negative vibrations then ye you will forever be depressed and sad.Get up, go to the gym, exercise , mingle with positive people, join civic-active groups, join happy organizzations, build warm relationships among people, make yourself comfortable, treat yourself nicely, be spiritual. it helps alot, because if there is no on else..at least there is God to comfort you..participate in stress free activities, and enjoy life..remember life is short and you are shortening it even with your negative attitude..cheer up!!!

Keep yourself occupied with activities. Take control of your life and choose to be happy. It is just a state of mind.
