My son, nearly 7 months, has red dots around his eyes, mostly in the morning. Doctor said it was just an irritation and not to worry too much about it. Today its the worst I've seen. Anyone know what this could be? Could it be allergies; an infection?

They are not blood vessels; they are almost like little pimples, some with little white heads.

If it is under the skin. It is broken blood vessels from coughing or straining. It normally goes away. If on top, it some kind of rash--If you feel the rash gets worse or enters the eye, call the doctor and make an appointment.

Does he cry at night? Its normal for babies to cry hard and have spots around their eyes from the pressure.

Try washing his blankets and bedding in a different detergent and without fabric softeners, that can rule out allergies. Even the fact that he takes a nap in the same bedding and doesnt get a rash can rule that out too.

Whatever it is, I wouldnt worry too much about it, generally that sort of thing passes, or you have an epiphany and realize that it is.

Maybe he rubs his eyes a lot when he sleeps or upon waking?
