Do you head to the comfort of the work toilet cubicle just to have 'timeout' from everything? When it all gets too much... just to have five minutes to yourself. Is this a new phenomena or have I just been missing something? Does anyone have anywhere they like to go when they need a break... suggestions please.

Good question! I used to work at a call center. I hated the job and the only escape I had was the five minutes when I could get away to a stall. Obviously when you work in a call center you talk all day long. Then when you are off the phones you have your co-workers to talk to. On top of that the job itself can be very stressful having to meet goals, stats, and all that fun stuff. To escape I would log out of the phones and go to the bathroom to de-stress.

I do not feel such levels of stress in my job. I believe it is due to my organizational skills. It always amazes me how many of my co-workers add unnecessary stress to their jobs by failing to keep organized. They let paperwork pile up in unsorted stacks and then panic when they cannot find the report they need. They do not organize their email and end up missing important meeting notifications etc.

I hate stress and refuse to endure any self created. I was not always like this. In the beginning of my career I was super stressed. The first step I took was to buy a little note pad. Every time someone asked me to do something I wrote it down and by the end of the day I either had all the tasks done or a valid explanation of why it could not be and a record of whom was notified about it.

It worked so well that I kept finding other ways to eliminate the stress I was creating for myself. I soon realized that there wasn't really that much stress from my job once I was able to find what I needed, showed up prepared for meeting etc.

It is great!

the bathroom stall is definetly a great place to its a little space to your self where no one is there, its usually quiet, and you are able to relax w/o people nagging and asking a milion questions. I use the bathroom too because im usually at school and that is prbably the only place you could really go to do that. Maybe find a nice quiet corner at your work or take a walk to walk off the stress. Fresh air always helps!!!

The toilet was my hiding place in basic training every morning. Reveille would play at 0430hrs (4:30am) every single morning in basic. It was so loud it would shoot you out of bed, and that would begin the day for high stress all day long. So I trained myself to get up at 0425hrs, I would throw my clothes and tennis shoes on (we had PT -physical training- first thing in the morning, no uniforms yet), and I would hurry to the bathroom stall sit on the toilet with my fingers in my ears till reveille went off and played through. I *hated* that song and still do to this day. The toilet was my escape for 7 weeks of reveille.

^^ Last I checked, they have bathrooms in schools ^^

I wait until work to hit the toilet. Might as well get paid for it.

Yes I do. And I resent it when my stall neighbor brings a cell phone!
