Because you know that wasn't in the contract. "By the way, your charactor is gay". But now because the charactor is gay people are going to look at the actor and associate him with being gay.

Personally, I think this is hilarious. What do you think?

Wait, how am I stupid? Apparantly only about one in five people even get what I'm talking about. The rest of you just go straight to a literal interpretation of everything. It's like you lack the ability to think beyond a very thing surface. I'm stupid? No! You don't even get the joke.

Does it make any difference? First it was the character, not the actor. Second, it wasn't germane to the story line. And no one would have guessed unless Rowling's spoke up.

I wonder why she waited until the series was finished?

Honestly I don't think it matters for the actor. Neither of the actors who have portrayed Dumbldore were/are gay, so who cares.

I'm just very suspicious as to why Rawlings waited until now to divulge this about one of her characters. How does this change what she's already written and has already said she's done writing?
How does this affect the series' popularity?

Personally I think it's all a stunt to get the GLBT community to buy more books, but I believe it's only going to backfire miserably.

I think that there are too many people who cannot separate TV and movies from reality , characters from actors. I was told that recently an actress from the TV show "Friday Night Lights" was accosted on the street based upon her character having cheated on her boyfriend. The fan of the show was angry with her and screamed at her for having done such a thing.

Is that insane?

So, what, you think people think Jake Gyllenhaal (sp?) is gay because of BBM? It's just acting, unrelated. Toby Maguire does not have superpowers. Kirsten Dunst is not romantically involved with Spider-man. Movies are not reality. =)

I think people are also confusing Richard Harris and Michael Gambon (who are both straight and have played Dumbledore), with Ian McKellen, who is gay and played Gandalf.

Well I think that that is nonsense. So what if your character is gay? You are just portraying him/her. There's nothing real about it. And it also depends on the person if he/she will accept the character. It's really his/her business already. :D

I think its funny too, that Rawlins waited to disclose this until the very end.
