With violence severely down (down 70% since the surge), the tide has turned in the Iraqi war. Even historians and editiorial writers are turning out opinion pieces stating their opinions on how we won the war.

Why do libs want to lose this war?

Liberals are going to keep saying we lost the war as long as anybody will listen...it's their only hope to take the White House.

You can't predict when someone will die. The average life span for a white male in America is in the 70's. His mothers health has nothing to do with it. His father died at the age of 70. It's luck of the draw. She was FOR the Bridge to Nowhere. She turned against it only when she realized everyone else was. She acts so responsibly that she cut funding and is against sex education. She is for abstinence only. It didn't work for her own family, it hasn't worked in the past 20 years, it's not going to work now. Also, 18-24 year olds have the greatest risk of getting HIV or an STD. They NEED to be educated. That's not a Maverick. Ok. JFK had little experience. So why complain about Obama's then? Two-sided coin there. She was mayor of the meth capital of Alaska. She was Govenor for 2 years and did quite a few corrupt things in that time. I won't take away from her the good things she has accomplished, but when weighed against the bad things....her achievements fall short. Why am I afraid of her? She couldn't answer half the questions during the debate. She has so much info WRONG it's not funny. I know more about whats going on than she does. How is the VP's duties a gotcha question? How is the name of the General in Iraq a gotcha question? These are topics she should KNOW. And frankly, she doesn't have a clue.

Now, is this the same war we were winning nearly 5 years ago, with the declaration of "mission accomplished?" The war that W is asking for another $46 BILLION to wage (within days of denying heath care for this country's children) bringing this year's total up to $200 BILLION? The war that has nearly defeated Al Qaida in Iraq - the Al Qaida that wouldn't be there if we weren't?

Why, I can't imagine why "libs" would be against this war? And why "libs" want to lose it... BTW, exactly what would constitute "winning" - or for that matter, "losing" in this war?

And the number one reason we are against this war? The dead, the wounded and the shattered lives - both there and at home.

The first problem is why are we even over there in the first place? Why are we running around the world trying to fix problems? Those people know one thing, bloodshed. We will never change that. And no, we are not winning.

Because if they have to admit that we are winning then they would have to admit that Bush might have been right. I recently had the opportunity to talk to a soldier just back from Iraq and his version of what is happening is very different from what we hear from the arm chair generals here

Do you want the real answer?
You can get it just by looking at the replies from the Liberal whackjobs on this site alone. They are so very heavily invested in defeat that they use terms like "illegal war"... and so hypocritical that they then claim to support the troops.
That's like saying you're against, say, rape... but you support rapists.
Moronic and juvenile hypocrisy.
The truth is that their Bush Derangement Syndrome dictates their very existence... and if we were to win this war, it would make it impossible to maintain their delusion that Bush can't succeed. It would mean their precious Congress, who has the lowest approval rating ever, is proven wrong yet again.
They can't afford that.

Look, the war itself was won very quickly... and anyone with a brain knows that. We're not really fighting 'the war' right now, we're stabilizing Iraq and fighting insurgents sponsored by Iran, Syria and Al Qaeda. The ill-informed fools who go about saying there are no terrorists in Iraq... they can go vote for the totally out-of-touch John Edwards and live in fantasyland.
Is there a civil war going on? Yes. Are we fighting it? No.
We're fighting a proxy war against Iran due to their continued involvement there... and now they're getting involved in Afghanistan. Of course, you can't tell the Liberals that, either, because in their peachy-keen little perfect world, Bush is to blame for all of this and everyone else is innocent.
They're deluded and downright silly in their rhetoric.
I'm sure they'll get their jollies giving me thumbs down, but truth is... they just don't get it and either don't have the desire to grasp the situation or the ability to comprehend it.

We can't go back to 9/10/2001
Life is not going to be the same as it was then... ever. Osama declared war on us during Clinton's watch and he did nothing about it... so he had time to build a network and look what he's accomplished. Don't tell the Liberals that... they still think Bill Clinton was a god.
The intel about the WMDs... was not faulty. It wasn't Bush's people lying to the Congress... Hillary went to Bill's old advisors... she wasn't lied to. Get over it. Hillary (and Bill) KNEW there were WMDs in Iraq. We sold them to them, you revisionist Liberals... back when Iraq was fighting Iran!
So we KNEW he had them.
He used some of them on his own people. He was working on a nuclear program. We knew this too... stop trying to lie to yourself that we didn't. He sent the WMDs to Syria when he knew we were going to invade. That's why he (at the last minute) said the UN inspectors could come in. He figured we'd back down, look, see nothing, leave, and he could get back to business.
He was wrong!
And to those of you who are so thick that you think Bush was wrong to take Saddam out... get a clue!
THAT decision was made years earlier by Bill Clinton.

I know Liberals hate to be proven wrong, but get used to it, because you're wrong about so many things it's going to take years to straighten you out on them.
Go ahead... ask the stupid question:
"If there were WMDs in Iraq, where are they now?"
Well... if you paid attention at all, you'd know Syria supplied Hezbollah in Lebanon with SCUD missiles. Gee... who is infamous for using those? I wonder where SYRIA got them... or the nuclear material that Israel just confiscated from them?
Open your eyes... or shut your mouths.

Not one acre of ground actually won. 3,000 + US military dead. 30,000+ military wounded & suffer from loss of limb.(this administration is for the most part keeping the graveness of this situation from the people). $500,000,000 spent on a war that was started on lies, too numberous to mention),and more cost to come. $10,000,000 dissappeared in Iraq that nobody knows where it went( 2 years worth of healthcare for the future of this country). Corruption abounds by the contractors that were awarded no-bid contracts from this administration to rebuild Iraq. The loss of respect around the world because of this war. We are winning this war????? Don't believe everything you read or everything you hear from the entertainment news networks.

Are you kidding me? Anything to win the next election. If the war goes well, bad for their election prospects. They might even have to admit they were wrong!

Your statement, that the US is winning the war, is not supported by the article you cite.. If you read beyond the first few paragraphs, you'll see that.

"in the northern province of Nineveh, where many al Qaeda and other Sunni Arab militants fled to escape the crackdown in Baghdad and surrounding region, there had been a 129 percent rise in car bombings and a corresponding 114 percent increase in the number of people killed in violence.

While the figures confirm U.S. data showing a positive trend in combating al Qaeda bombers, there is growing instability in southern Iraq, where rival Shi'ite factions are fighting for political dominance."

If you think we are winning or we have won answer these two questions.

1. Why does the President have to make surprise visits to Iraq?

2. Are you willing to go to Iraq right now and go to the public square and admit you are an American?

You want to know how I define victory there's your answer.

Ready for those thumbs down than actual answers.

We are not "wining" this war...its a civil war that foreign forces can not win... why cant you republican hard heads realize that your leader is a liar....we are NOT fighting terrorists, we are fighting civilian rebels that are fighting each other for control of thier country. Iraq was not/ is not/ and wont be a threat to the US for a long time...we are at war with terrorists in Afgan. and Pak. but theres no oil to be had there so bush (oil whore) created a false threat from this country. Are there terrorists in Iraq....yes...are there terrorists in every country in the world ...yes...we should be fighting the large pockets like A-stan and P-stan and maybe some of the countries in Africa that are quickly becoming al-q headquarters....if we are to follow bush's ignorant plan of attack on terrorists we will be at war with seria/iraq/iran/saudi/eri/jordan/and countless other countries "harboring" terrorists....it CAN NOT BE DONE, we need to pull back, stop wasting AMERICAN TAX $, strengthen our border security and spend the money here on the home front, intelligence, and only take out MAJOR threats that are viewed that way by UN/NATO our allies and ONLY act in unison with the world not in defiance of it...why dont you people get it??? I just dont see how much simpler we can put it for you...anyone with a H.S. diploma should be able to get it. This is a war about money and oil....not terrorism...if bush would just say it and be honest then I'd have no arguement about whats happening...but quit lying and saying its for one thing when its not...it never was...bush has spent every dollar in the bank on this "war" to claim oil and little troops/money/resourses to fight the real terrorism A-stan P-stan...use your mind....this is where alot of countries around the world ARE fighting by our side....know why??? CAUSE ITS TERRORISM....nobody is by our side in iraq, know why??? ITS NOT TERRORISM!!!!
