German, cause I'm a rotund woman!! Lol.
I think both cultures/peoples are respected for different reasons.
Germany has it's boisterous partying, and italy has it's fine fashion. you could go on and on like this.
cause i'm rotund, i can't fit into italy fashions anyway, but i sure know how to get stuck into that bratwurst!!

The Italians history is ancient and there is much record of the ancient civilization, especially compared to the German archeological remains. Italy is surrounded by the sea. It has lovely hills and mountains. It is not one composite group of people it has its different regions, each of which have it's traditions and pride. I think Lemon trees grow in the south. I think that must be beautiful. It has beautiful cedar trees and lovely pines and gnarled ancient olive trees. It has some of the greatest works of art produced by the greatest artists. Like all peoples there those who are pretty and those who are not so pretty, but their pretty ones definitely make up for the less than pretty ones. They love music and have exquisite cuisine. They have a beautiful language and lilt that flows so nicely. Now the Germans have been traditional regarded as being more robust physically. In ancient times when they invaded Rome I believe that was true. Whether it is still true today, I don't know. The Italians are quite a robust people themselves. The Germans are mainly known for their engineering talent which is great. They are serious about detail. They are serious about keeping their shirt tucked in a nd not looking sloppy or like a fool. They are very determined and single-minded in their pursuits. Some parts of their country is wonderfully remarkable and others very charming. The German sense of humor is different and perhaps unique. You have to be an insider to get it. They have a strong sense of identity. I don't think their big fans of multiculturalism and living as one big happy rainbow. They will work as team with great precision and determination. In WW2 they took on the whole world and it took everything the whole world had in them to stop them. So I would say they are definitely courageous and nobody would want to incite to war. That was true from ancient times. I guess the Germans are determined like no one else, they are brilliant in some ways, and they have an interesting history. You can only be in or out with them. If you're in, you're really in. If you're out, you're really out with them. It depends on your personality. If you're the serious type, you got a head start on "being" German. If you're artistic, love life, warm sunshine, beauty, and full of zest for life, you're already on your way to "being" Italian. I wish I could be Italian, but I am way too serious, I would never be able to fool them into believing I'm Italian. I am serious and sometimes depressed, very worried about detail and have a sense of humor that people don't get. I could easily be mistaken for a German without trying. I couldn't be Italian if I tried. The only way I could do it is by marrying one, perhaps. I would be on the learning curve 24/7, 365 days a year. I might be able to pass as an Italian after 20 or 30 years of marriage. Oh, you asked which is more respected. It depends on what you're talking about. If you're talking design, hands down Italian. If you're talking engineering and physical science, the Germans without a doubt. If you're talking cuisine, the Italians by a couple of light years. It depends what you're talking about. I would say, in general, you would have to agree that the Italians have produced more beautiful things than the Germans. They could spot the Germans a 2000 year head start and still beat them in this arena.

German. I have Norwegian ancestry on my father's side. I also like how the German language sounds when it's spoken.
Not sure if either nationality is more respected than the other though. May depend on where you might be in the world and which country.

Tough question. I think Germany is beautiful and I like the language and that Germanic orderliness...but Italianans have the best food in the world. I'll say German.

None. I'm perfectly happy being a Portuguese. Germany is too cold in the winter time and Germans seem to be too strict in general terms. Italy, on the other hand, seems a bit chaotic.
