You will have another one between 18-20 weeks which is called the morphology scan to check the all is growing well with baby such as checking the spine, the face for things like cleft lip etc..., and the all important sex of the baby should you wish to know! They will also measure how long the bubs is and the head measurements to determine the fetal age and approximate due date (your original due date and the scan due date may differ because babies all grow at different stages) but your doctor will advise you if they are going to change your due date.
All in all its the best scan you will have because you will get a better look at the baby. I highly recommend asking your doctor for a referral for a 4D ultrasound as these give a clear picture of the baby and can be recorded onto DVD and then shown to family and friends. Your doctor should be able to tell you where the nearest place is and then you can ring them and book an appointment with the normal 18-20wk ultrasound referral. Try googling 4D ultrasound and have a look at how much different and clearer they are to the normal 2D grainy black and white images.
After the next scan will come the Glucose test at 28wks to test for gestational diabetes which entails drinking a bottle of lemonade like drink and then taking a blood test an hour later.
Congratulations and best of luck!

Congratulations. The next one is 18-20weeks. It's called the anomaly scan because abnormalities are looked for. They confirm fetal heart beating, look for multiple pregnancy, measure fetal size, assess position of placenta, check volume of amniotic fluid. And can tell you the sex of the baby.
I actually had my first scan today (bub #3) to see how far along I am (12w) and will have another in 6-7 weeks for the 20week scan.
With my first daughter I had 2 scans. One to find out how far along and then the 20week one. With number two I had them at least once a month after the 20week scan because she had cysts on her kidney and we needed to keep an eye on the cysts.

that's not $6000, that's greater like $4000. as quickly as you have your infant your well being facility grants you all of the suited paper artwork to fill out and hand into the two centrelink or medicare.
