I've never heard of one that does but maybe you should try going to an independent mechanic. They may charge less. Oh yeah when you go act like you know something about cars they won't charge you as much. It's been proven that if you don't know jack about cars then some mechanics will pad your bill.

Contrary to popular belief Yes some dealers do, I am not a dealer but I have a lot of customers who need to finance the ol' beater getting a new motor, I went to my bank and I provide a loan on approval by me where I can extend a payment plan.
The issue I usually see is the payment is fairly low so if it isn't made by contract I can go get the car and I have also attached a lien to the vehicle. So Some do and Some don't it just depends on how bad they want you as a customer. My shop is in a area where there are a lot of Armed Service out of the country and their spouse needs the car fixed so I help them out as well as anyone who has good credit and qualifies for my short term loan. my loans don't exceed 6 months. So if you need a lot done then, I suggest doing it in small pieces.

HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA! They SURE do sweetheart. It's call a credit card. They ALL take 'em.
If YOU do not have the cash to fix it-you don't SAY what is wrong with it-WHY should a dealership put his mechanocs and parts to work for you-only to later have you find out it needs OTHER stuff and you finally take it to a scrap yard-sans the repair payment/
OR! Lets look at it another way. Suppose you work for your boss untill he has enough money (his opinion, not yours) in the account to pay you. This will come when all of hiis current obligations are paid. Then you can have yours. DEAL? or NO DEAL?

Dealerships will find imaginary problems and charge real money. Definately a private mechanic. Too bad you don't have one already, guys you know personally are more likely to float the bill for a while.

I would ask to talk to the shop manager and tell him straight out that you don't have the money to fix all the problems on your car. Ask him if he could do the minimum repairs to make the car road worthy and safe to drive. Ask him what he'd recommend you fix as a minimum and about how much would it cost.

personally i don't go to dealers, they are expensive, try asking some of your friends if they know a good honest mechanic, if they do go and talk with them, tell them straight out that your broke and see if they will work with you, they also tend to charge less for repairs, so get a estimate first before you panic, it may be something simple and inexpensive
