Functional groups, alkanes, alkenes and bromine water?

When bromine water reacts with an alkene and then an alkane, what is the functional group from the alkane and the alkene that reacts with bromine.

C-H and C=C respectively.

Except that bromine water doesn't react with alkanes. Bromine liquid, or vapour, does, in the presence of heat or light.
