Unless there is something wrong with the UPS there shouldn't be a problem. Laptop AC adapter tend not to mind too much what is input into them provided it the voltage isn't too high, even square wave UPS's are unlikely to do anything bad to most computer equipment.

A UPS designed to run a desktop is not going to have any trouble with a laptop (which will use less power).

OTOH there really isn't going to be much point to running a laptop off a UPS as the battery in the laptop will function much like an internal UPS.

not that i am aware of
also, makes no sense what so ever to me
even granted that the ac output of UPS may not have a sinosoidal wave form & could be pwm actually

now, you will appreciate that in order to comment on those theories, you will need to post link to article

btw: why do you need the UPS
makes sense only if your laptop batteries are dead

no
UPS is simply a power supply that when the power cuts off gives you time to save your work and switch off the pc/laptop although you can use the power in the storage system for a few hrs it will run out eventually
