Please help!!!
For a girl we have managed to decide on the name....
Emilie Grace
For a boy we unsure a little - we both like Jacob and my boyfriend picked Samuel which I like too.
However he HATES all my suggestions of middle names such as ...
Samuel Thomas
Samuel James
Samuel William
Jacob Thomas
Jacob William
Jacob James
I have even suggested Samuel Jacob and Jacob Samuel which he has dismissed as he says we could go on to have another boy later on and wouldn't be able to chose them names.
His reasons for not liking middle names is because they members of my family and he says he doesn't want to name our son after family relatives.
William was my grandfathers name and is my surname - not married to boyfriend yet but will be doing.
James is nephews name and Thomas is my brothers name which I have always lilked.
Can you suggest anything - I think Samuel Jacob and Jacob Samuel are lovely but he not budging!
He such a pain!

Thanks for your suggestions so far ...
Boyfriend wants him to have a middle name and I do too.
We can't have Andrew as that boyfriends name,
David is his middle name which he does not like
Joseph is my nephews middle name as he called Simon Joseph.
So can't have those names...
Other middle names we can't have are

Hi,
We can't have Leo as my name Leonie and people call me Leo or Lee for short.
I feel like just telling boyfriend the baby is going to be called Samuel and just leave it like that but he having none of it.
He says if our daughter is having the middle name of Grace then our son deserves a middle name too!
Men eh?!

All of your suggestions are really lovely but I think the best one is Jacob Samuel
I know that your boyfriend might not like it but there are plenty of other names out there if you have another boy!!
If not then I'd suggest

Compromise. Since you are in a relationship, he will have to give a little and so would you. Jacob Samuel is lovely! But since you plan on having more children, how about Jacob Nicholas? Samuel David? Jacob Andrew? Samuel Joesph? Congratulations on the children!

given that you are the one doing the difficult part in bringing your child into the world I think your chap should be more understanding - tell him you will name the child after him Jacob Tosser (only joking)- I am pregnant - nearly due - and still haven't decided. What about Samuel Isaac? I think the girls name you have chosen is beautiful, my grandmothers name was Emily Grace and she was a wonderful person. Good luck with everything

I don't like Jacob and Samuel, but if i have to choose between the 2 I would pick Samuel

Buy him one of those baby names books & make him read through it & highlight any names that he likes, then see how you feel about them. Personally I think he is being a little bit too stubborn, lets face it your baby will be called mainly by their first name, rather than first & middle name so I don't think he needs to make so much of a fuss over it. If he is going to refuse every name you suggest, then its time for him to come up with a few alternatives!
I'm having a boy & luckily enough we agreed on Samuel James straight away, Samuel was my bf's grandad who passed away earlier this year & James is one of my granddads. I do think it's nice to use a family name & it shouldn't really matter whose family it comes from.
Maybe you will be lucky & it will turn out to be a girl & then you don't have to worry about a boys name! x

Take your baby and run. He doesn't want to name your child after a relative? What an absurd idea. Every name comes from some connection to the past. You should be allowed to name your babies what you want, especially if that name is part of your family tradition. He is going to be a pain the rest of your married life. You will stay together for the sake of the children but you will not be happy. You should get out now while you have the chance.
