Yes, that is very true. Also, Americans attacked Japan beginning after Peral Harbour, so that was when the War of the Pacific began. America wouldn't have been defenseless, though, because we were on France and Britain's side. However, keep in mind, they were not our official allies. And Italy was fighting on the side of the Italians. Hope I helped!

Germany declared war on the US, not the other way round.
As to the extent of German occupation, Australia and Canada might have been abit too ambitious. Plus they were held in Africa and the Middle East, and only went in to cover the Italian disasters.
You also seem to forget Russia, that was the turning point for Germany. Without the Eastern Front Germany could have deployed a vast amount of man power on the Normandy coast and Southern Italy making Anglo-American invasion much harder.

Thankfully, Hitler took the decision out of American hands by declaring war on America first. At the time America Viewed the European conflict as little more than tribal warfare and there was a strong movement for American isolationism. Ultimately, what you say is true, but who knows.
The other issue that you have forgoten is Barbarossa. Germany had bitten off more than it could chew when it attacked Russia. It is possible that the UK would have won anyway, once Russia got her act together. American envolvement only hastened the inveitable.

germany declared war on america not vice versa, in the hope hope japan would invade the soviet union taking them up the rear so to speak. declaring war on america turned out to be an even bigger mistake than barbarossa because of the aid sent to the ussr and americas commitment to a germany first policy. however i think you are naive at the very least if you believe the usa would ever have tolerated german influence either in canada or south america or the caribean, remember it wasnt that long ago the yanks had blew 2 spanish fleets out of the water and stopped there influence in cuba and the phillipines.

The problem with your line of thought is that America at that time was EXTREMELY isolationist. Outside of a few in Washington like FDR no one cared a hoot what happened in Europe. Americans had great confidence that they were oceans away from any wars. I think Britain was very fortunate that japan was foolish enough to attack and that Hitler was stupid enough to declare war on the U.S. . Winston Churchill must have thought an angel had touched him on the shoulder for that stroke of luck !!

In short, for the second time in one century the "New World", saved the "Old World".
Yes, the war helped end the depression, but who do we blame for that considering it was Japan that attacked America followed by Germany declaring war!
Even then it took Churchill to convince Roosevelt to go after the Germans' first.
The worlds first language could never have been German because the Russians would have eventually beaten them or weakened them so much that the massive industrial might of America could step in and clean up the rest.
Oh, nearly forgot, America could just have'd nuked them if they didn't fancy getting their hands dirty!

You are forgetting the Lend - Lease Act. While we may not have had boots on the ground, we were in fact providing you with material - And we wrote off most of your debt (could this be the beginnings of the Marshal Plan?)
You are also forgetting that the US had a large German immigrant population that wanted (at best) for the US to remain nuetral.

as a brit,i was always told throughout my schooling that the yanks only join anything if there is money to be made.in the 30s usa was in a deep depression era and nothing was going for them ,so along comes a war in europe and millions of yanks get to get out of the usa and see the world ,by fighting on european /japanese soil.at the end of the war ,suddenly usa has become a wealthy nation and all those people of america were sacrificed to get the usa out of the depression and the rest as they say is history.
