Haha this seems like a really silly question to me but anyway, I think my boyfriend is honestly jealous of my dog.
It's her birthday and she'll be one on Thursday and we bought her some birthday presents and we're having a little get together with her brothers and sisters. He said, you didn't go to that much trouble for my birthday (really I've gone to far more trouble, but I'm going to wait until I can give him his present)
My boyfriend and I have been long distance for almost 3 years.
I love both my boyfriend and my dog. My boyfriend said before 'You and Tilly have such a good relationship together'. He just asked what I was up to and I said I was lying in bed snuggling up with Tilly and squishing her ears and he said 'You can squish my ears'. Hahaha.
Do you think he's jealous, and is it wrong or strange for him to be? He knows I love him just as much, if not more than my dog.

Eww Murray, get your mind out of the gutter haha.
Kiwi- Yes partly. I'm also going to buy him an Ipod Touch. I want to be with him when I give it to him though.

Hi Wabby.
It has been awhile since I last responded to your questions. However, I had planned to share my opinion regarding this question of yours.
To begin with, I do not think your boyfriend is jealous of your dog, but rather using the dog in a manner to compliment you.
As far as got to understand, he is indicating the comfort he wishes you could offer him, the same comfort you offer to your dog, but because the long distance between you both is an obstacle, he can only wish.
I also analyzed where you spent more time with your dog on its birthday...
Psychologically, he's trying to say you never put enough effort in towards his birthday. A man would not compare himself with an animal, so to say he's jealous of the relationship you have with your dog is unlikely possible.
In my opinion, and my point of view, I believe he's using the dog to express how he feels about his relationship with you...
Well, Dad has to leave now. It was my pleasure answering your question today.
Have a nice day, Wabby.
Dad.

LOL HAPPY BIRTHDAY TILLY! It sounds to me like he may be a bit jealous! He sees all the attention you're giving to your pup, and he wants it! Just reassure him that the love is just as strong, it's just a different kind! I think it's great he admits it to you, just not in a direct manner.
(Next time you and your boyfriend are cuddling, scratch him behind the ears, as a joke and say "There now, hon, doesn't that feel good?") GL

Hi Wabby, I think you are right. You love Tilly and your always with her and you can be with her where your boy friend cannot be with you and the party thing showed me that there is a little jealousy. Don't worry he will get over it!!!

Dear Sarah,
I don't think, your boyfriend is jealous of your dog. However, he may be hurt by his perceived status in your life, i.e., in any way, on a comparable level of your dog. I know, I would be very hurt, if someone told me they loved me as much as much as their dog. Even, if they told me, they loved me more than their dog, I would find the comparison unacceptable.
Consider, how you might feel, if someone said, "I love you as much as my car." It probably, wouldn't make it any better, if they said, "I love you even more than my car."
Your question, is an excellent question, relevant to all of us, not silly at all.

I think he is more interested in lying in bed with you and have you squish his ears, and probably elsewhere LoL.

He's jealous...I've seen many relationships sink due to jealously over a pet (or a young child).
