The spaghetti at my elementary school was horrible. The pasta was mushy and there would always be water on your plate. The meat in the sauce was most likely burnt cat food. As for the tomato sauce itself, it was just nasty. I went to pick up my daughter for an appointment one day at lunch time (she happens to go to the same elementary school I did) and they were having spaghetti that day. I almost threw up when then smell hit me, it was like deja vu and I was 7 again....

Beetroot.

I had no idea what it was back then and they tried to force me to eat it. I took a bite, drank some water, but still couldn't swallow even though I tried. My gag reflex kicked in then - they weren't too happy with the vomit.

btw I didn't even want to be served it, things were different back then.
