regular 400 mghz pc 3200 memory? My new mobo uses that kind of memory (ddr). It is going on a gigabyte mobo with a Sempron 1.80 processor socket 754. It can handle 3 gigs. At least thats what the mobo schematics say. I bought this mobo 3 years ago but kept it in the box.

A Socket 754 motherboard can't run memory in Dual Channel mode but that doesn't actually matter, just as long as the RAM is the correct type for the motherboard (ordinary DDR SDRAM will do).

Dual Channel mode just means that if you put two modules in the computer can access two of them at the same time, doesn't provide much extra performance but if you've got two modules of the same size it's a good idea to use it (if you can, as I say, Socket 754 motherboards can't).

twin Channel capacity greater beneficial than merely having 2 slots. twin channel capacity once you fill 2 twin-channel waiting slots each with the comparable style of RAM, your RAM bandwidth is two times as severe. a minimum of in concept, in practice that's merely extremely quicker. Triple Channel is an extension created via Intel requiring RAM enjoying cards to be put in in triples. you would be able to desire to apply 3 ram sticks to have it artwork. It would not precisely triple the fee, besides the incontrovertible fact that that's quicker than twin channel. What you somewhat need to examine is that if the motherboard helps those useful properties. so a methods as i be attentive to, merely Intel chipsets help triple channel. i'm specific something love it is going to likely be on AMD boards finally. merely approximately each thing contemporary helps twin channel. additionally, you would be able to desire to place the comparable RAM length and form into each slot. If the RAM is distinctive speeds, you will function on the slower velocity. So merely purchase your RAM in a 'twin channel kit' or 'triple channel kit' to keep away from this concern.

That motherboard in socket 754 format does not support dual channel mode. Athlon 64 FX was NEVER released in socket 754 format. Box may have been mislabeled.
