Looking for nices places to stay - chilled out with nice restaurants

Newport, Rhode Island.
Beautiful town with many nice places to stay and plenty of restaurants along Thames Street and the surrounding areas. You also have the old mansions along Bellevue Avenue and a beach nearby.

If you are willing to go a little further away from Boston, you should try Cape Cod. It's a beautiful little place and really lovely. We were there for our honeymoon at this time of year and it was fantastic. The beaches are all full of sand dunes and white clapboard houses. The restaurants are great and the best place by far was Provincetown, which was very bohemian, there was a restaurant there called Napi's and it's one of the best places I've eaten, they also had a collection of local artists work (some of it a little way out). Out and about at night was a really great atmosphere too.

Cape Cod is NOT between Boston and NY (lols).
As for "best" and "nice" how do you define?
For me, that would be areas of country inns and fine restaurants. There are two such areas: Litchfield County and along I-84 in northwestern CT, and the middle hills area between the CT River at Saybrook and Plainfield, to the west, north and northwest of the casinos.

Mohegan Sun or Foxwoods in Connecticut are fun places with lots of nice restaurants.
