Because a nice rose takes a lot of time and energy to produce. Back in the day, to receive a nice rose from somebodies rose bush meant that person was willing to give a part of all that time and labor to show how much they cared. Now days you can go buy them in the store but the price still reflects how much effort goes into producing a beautiful rose. There fragrance and there beauty is also a large part of why they are so romantic.Hope this helped. My wife actually prefers carnations to roses, I guess to each there own.
