Its always amazed me that a player with such a mediocre england record has always kept his popularity.

Cole, Barry, Gerrard and SWP do the business.

SWP is faster, better dribbler and for what its worth, can even hit (in my opinion) a better cross.

For a 'dead ball' specialist, beckham has only ever scored 4 goals for england...

Regardless of his carbon footprint travelling over 6000 miles just for 1 match, i dont understand why people support and at times scream for his inclusion...

I dont even think the other players want him in the squad.

Beckham was good a few years back, but there are so many new stars that he just doesn't seem that good when compared to them. I think the only reason he is in the national team is because he is a veteran which people respect.

Please don't tell me that you are comparing SWP and J Cole to Beckham, he has done it at a consistent level for 10+ Years. Yes he's getting on a bit now (He is 31) and maybe shouldn't be in the first 11 but surely he's worth a squad place, or maybe you'd rather give the squad places to: -

A Johnson - 1 goal in 9 months

J Lescott - What the F**K

J Defoe - Can't Get in a spurs team that are bottom 3

D Bent - IS in spurs team that are bottom 3

L Young - God were really scrapping the barrel now.

Beckham is not the best midfielder we have got (Thats gerrard) and he is certainly not the best footballer were got (M Richards / Rooney) he is however more proud to play for england than anyone i've ever seen. You would never have seen a F Lampard / G Barry or J Cole take control of that Greece match the way becks did, and if thats too long ago for you how about the fact he single handedly dragged R Madrid to last seasons title.

He is an inspiration to players and fans alike and i'm sick of people knocking him.

Long Live King Becks.

Beckham is like England's talisman. A lot of people seem to think that he has to be in the squad for England to do well as the other players do better as he's such an influential player.

However, aslong as SWP is playing as well as he is I see no reason to swap Beckham in. England can't keep playing with the squad from years ago, we need to start bringing in younger players to get them ready for the future. If we keep including players such as Beckham and Lampard just because they are 'big names' then the England team will suffer in the future.

I've been an England fan for a very long time and I had watched every single match they played. I was very amazed with Gareth Barry's performance since he earned his first call up since 2000. He assists to the players to score, he has some great corner kicks plus, he combines with Steven Gerrard very well in midfield. Whereas Joe Cole, he definitely has the pace on the left side. He also scores some amazing goals. SWP is doing good on the right side too. But I have to say that he has improved a lot after playing for England a couple of times. Whereas David Beckham, he's a great player. Although he's in his 30's, he still plays like the player we love in MU. He has the greatest free kicks and he has the speed too. Everyone in England loves him. But it's all up to the manager's decision.

Beckham is rightly not in England squad. He is a right winger with no pace, SWP is a much better right-winger because he is faster and has a better ability to take players on. Beckham is only good for his long range passing and set pieces. When SWP is injured, Beckham could be used as a replacement.

Your telling me someone with Beckhams range of passing has no place in the England squad even as a plan B?

Beckham can bring something to the team that's different from the rest, he deserves a place in a 22 man squad.

Well you obviously don't so there's no point arguing with you. And just for the record Beckham has scored 17 goals for England.

i agree, beckham has been overrated for along time now. Ok he has played the occasional game in which he has been outstanding but there is alot more games which i can remember where he has been garbage.

Only thing he is good at is free kicks and crossing. Nothing else. He should play in the american sports where you have special team's who come on and take set pieces.

he cant run any more. was never any good at getting past other players, he does have a great cross and has assisted in many many England goals, but hes not really at the top of his game anymore.
however i would give the 3-4 games he needs to get his 100 caps, he was a great servant to England and the game so he deserves that.

Some people might but I certainly don't. Then again, I 've thought he was over-rated and over-paid for a long time. Ask Alex Ferguson or any Real Madrid fan.
And LOL at Steven Rs comments!!! You're stuck with him and his god-awful and equally talentless missis. Why do you think he's playing in a third-rate league mate?
