Most of the women answering will probably recommend Bare Minerals, but their products contain bismuth, an ingredient that is known to cause itchiness and irritation and may cause breakouts. I've used Clinique for years and their products are 100% fragrance free, hypo-allergenic, and recommended by dermatologist. Here's the products I use:
For foundations: Clinique Superbalanced foundation, which is great for combination skin, keeps your skin looking matte and shine-free.
Mascaras: Clinique High Impact mascara. I love this mascara because it really lengthens short eyelashes that you never knew you had and separates, so there's no clumps.
Concealers: I always apply Clinique's All About Eyes first before I apply foundation. It really smooths out any fine lines and leaves the skin under your eyes extremely smooth.
Blush: I've been using Clinique's Soft-Pressed powder blusher since I was in junior high. It's really long lasting and my favorite shade is Mocha Pink.
Lips: You have try All About Lips before you apply lipstick. This stuff is worth every penny and makes your lips feel like silk. I like Clinique's Almost Lipsticks because they're very natural looking and you don't even need a mirror for touching up, they're very easy to apply.
I also use their 3-Step System for facial cleanser, toner, and moisturizer, it's the only products I will ever use for cleansing my face. I hope some of this helps and good luck!

I actually like both brands for their different products. Bare Minerals is a wonderful foundation. Good coverage, and very lightweight, better than Clinique's foundations, which tend to feel a little heavier. But Clinique does have pretty good concealers. Both companies put out good blushes, although I think that Bare Minerals has the better edge being that they all match any skin tone, but the key is to build the color. I use a lot of Clinique's eyeshadows, and eyeliners.
Overall, my best suggestion is to consult a professional. I like Sephora, they have a million brands, and they're very knowledgeable with what's good. Another suggestion is to experiment a lot. Clinique was actually the first brand I tried, and I thought it was the best makeup ever. However I started to discover other brands that put out better products in some areas, so you really can't just stick to one brand, in my opinion although that's what they want you to do.
Good luck!!!

Ive been using minerals for a long time and have tried all of the brands out there, and I have to say my favorite is from a seller at ebay:: Southern Magnolia Minerals, it's better than bare minerals! they don't put mica in the foundation.
They have a 8pc kit with full sizes for around $15.00, I buy this kit every 3 months and it has almost every thing you need in it. Add a few eye shadows, liner and mascara and your set to go.
ohh! and it also has a nice Concealer and a Blush
What I love most about Minerals is, it looks smooth and you don't have a makeup line at the jaw, around the neck or at your hair line!

Hi. Since you're quite a newbie in the make-up application arena, I would recommend that you start with make-up in cream or liquid form since those would be much easier to apply. Mineral make-up is great for the skin and may look flawless but it has to be done carefully and quite professionally in order to look good. Otherwise, you'll just end up with a cakey, uneven coverage. If you have good skin, try skipping foundation and try moisturizing, concealing blemishes, applying blush/bronzer, and lipgloss as your basic make-up routine. Once you get the hang of it, then you can experiment with more types of make-up to see what works for you. Good luck~

bare minerals is very good, because it is made of natural ingredients that wont harm your face. The powder cover up works wonders! it will cover anything on your face and wont give you any aftereffects like acne.

ALL mineral make up is high-quality to your dermis...but it surely doesnt quilt a lot... its fairly obvious. for those who desire insurance policy mixture a liquid groundwork into your dermis fairly good with concealer at the spots you desire protected
