I am 37 weeks pregnant. The past few days I have noticed my panties being somewhat "damp" and occasionally a wet spot. Now pardon me if this is TMI but it doesn't have that creaminess like a discharge and I know it's not urine. Could I slowly be leaking? Ive got a Dr appt coming up and Im going to talk to him about it, but just wanted to know if anyone else knows or has experienced this.

Hi April,
I work as a midwife and if you rang me to tell me this I would want you to pop in to see us so we could do a very simple test on the fluid you describe. If you are sure it is not urine, [and your nose is the best indicator of this], it could very well be what we call a 'hindwater leak' - a small break in the bag of waters surrounding the baby, but further up the babies body than the bit that is directly near the cervix [the forewaters]
This isn't the end of the world, and although some Drs will put you on antibiotics just in case, many will do a monitoring or ultrasound to see if the baby is doing okay. The water around the baby reproduces itself every day, so if the baby's heart rate is good in relation to its own movement, you don't have a temperature, and the water volume is good, then it is all okay...

It could be that you have a pin sized hole in your membrane and causing you to SLOWLY leak water. Alot of times this will seal up itself. OR it could weaken it and make it rupture completely :) Either way, just leaking a little bit of fluid is ok. Your body regenerates amniotic fluid every like 3-4 hours. Your baby will not loose his whole cushion... I would probably call the doctor first thing in the A.M. and ask him about it instead of waiting. He may want to see you and check to see if it is amniotic fluid... and ya never know, by this time tomorrow night, you could be holding your baby :) Also dont worry about not being completely due yet. Anything past 37 weeks is considered full term. Good luck!

I was told to wear a panty liner and after an hour see if it's wet..if it is then I would call L&D or go in to the ER and let them know..better safe than sorry and most doc's if your water has broken or slowly leaking would like the mom to deliver within 24 hours. Low fluid can be bad on the baby too.

once you're in water, taking a bath or tub you will possibly no longer understand suitable while your water breaks. yet once you get out you will. it is going to proceed to leak and spill out til the baby comes. you're able to bleed extremely too, and could experience contractions drawing near. i does not trouble approximately it. you will understand whether it happens interior the bathe you would be waiting to tell after. i does not bypass swimming. it could reason an infection in case you're dialating. medical doctors in many cases dont advise that. additionally, once you get your membranes stripped do particularly some strolling. Stripping membranes dont continually artwork. they might could do it returned at a destiny appt. If the baby isn't waiting the baby wont come. yet strolling helps, particularly some strolling. you additionally can attempt raspberry leaf tea. Dont attempt castor oil, it dont continually artwork and it could make the baby have a bowel circulate in utero. good success.

I think you need to see your Dr sooner because as you know the water bag is what helping the baby. And if it's leaking you want to make sure that he/she is okay in there. Sometimes when your water is broke or leaking it can turn to an infection so please go to the hospital and make sure the baby and you are okay. And please keep us post it.
