i just heard of this disorder myself this evening. but i think because women have problems with the cysts on their ovaries, it then somehow wont allow you to ovulate. if you dont ovulate then you wont be able to conceive. so i guess thats pretty much it, im not sure why it wont allow you to ovulate???

I have pcos, and to tell you the truth, it isn't easy dealing with it, the problem is, when you have pcos you have more male hormones then ladies hormones that helps the ovaries release and egg. Instead of you releasing and egg each month, it turns into small peas size cycts and sits on the ovaries, the reason why it don't get release is because it doesn't gets mature. Most ladies with pcos have cycts on both of the ovaries, some conceive natural, come use fertility meds, and some just never conceive. I did 4 cycles of clomid without any succes, but now I'm taking metformin and so far its has regulate my cycle to a 29 day cycle this is my 2nd month on it.

the egg inside the follicle matures and kinda ripens out of the ovary like a pimple but it never seems to pop, which is called ovualtion!
pco's have lots of little follicles filled with fluid and fail to rupture and have many on ovary from previous cycles that didn't ovualte.

PCOS causes the eggs in the ovaries to not mature. It also causes hormonal imbalances, leading to not ovulating at all, or ovulating irregularly.
