Are you a hardcore RPG player who levels the characters, toughen them up before fighting a very strong enemy? Basically doing everything in the game without using cheats and codes?

OR

Are you an RPG player who uses codes to just buff the characters up a little bit so you have no problems or have your characters at least at an equal strength when fighting a boss? As well as getting all items and get them maxed. Using infinite MP and using max MP codes, just to cast those damn spells that costs so much MP. Infinite money. Another reason is just so you can follow the story instead of doing "chores" in the game. Basically, not too much of using the codes that might consider in full cheating but just to "enhanced" your characters so you can advance throughout the game with no problems.

When I meant using cheats I meant when you use Gameshark, Action Replay, or Codebreaker for the RPGs.

Depends on the game.

For a couple of games. I've used a cheat device, but only to either get Gold, or to collect those "you have to be obsessive to get it" things.

An example was an old RPG who's name I can't remember anymore. In it, gold distribution was REALLY low. It took 10 fights in an area to earn enough gold for a SINGLE piece of equipment; and each of your 3 characters had 4 equipment slots! Equipment didn't make that big of deal to a characters power, so I infinite moneyed just to have enough cash to be able to afford to keep my equipment up to date. I

n fact infinite money is about the only code I ever use, with the exception of something for Final Fantasy Tactics. Unfortunaly I haven't had a lot of luck with most other codes, they just don't do what I need them to.

I'm hardcore and prefer to do it all on my own, and I'm that way in pretty much all games, however my friends are a little different >_> they think its cool to be able to play through the game and act like its an accomplishment that they beat the game when they cheate doing so.

I suppose cheating is fine the second time around but the first timee I think the game should be played the way it was meant to be played.

Apparently I'm hardcore, because I prefer doing everything myself. I may peek at a Guide or Walkthrough if I'm stuck, or if I can't find one of the many secrets always stashed away in any RPGs, but I would NEVER use a cheating device. I like the satisfied feeling of actually beating the game myself. If I feel I missed or forgot some of the storyline, it just gives me incentive to play it again.

if you haven't played the game before, then you should play the game the way it was meant to be played. after you beat the game, who wouldn't want the ultimate weapon for every character? or maxed out strength?

I do it the old fashion style, otherwise it's just pointless to waste your time on the game.
Also, you won't find many cheats for final fantasy games.
