1) -30 = n/3
=> n/3 = -30
=> n = -30 * 3
=> n = -90

2) x/-5 = - 2.6
=>-x/5 = -2.6
=> -x = -2.6 * 5
=> -x = -13
=> x = 13

3) k/5 - 6 = 2
=> k/5 = 2 + 6
=> k/5 = 8
=> k = 8 * 5
=> k = 40

Simple algebra problems like these the principle is to the the unknown number on one side of the equal sign and everything else on the other side.
-30=n/3 multiply both sides by 3 and then simplify
-30*3=n*3/3
-90=n*1=n
-90=n or n= -90

x / -5= -2.6 Multiply both sides by -5 to get x alone
x/ -5* -5 = -2.6* -5
x * 1 = x = 13 (multiplying two negatives results in a positive number)

k / 5 -6 = 2 Be sure to do in proper order get rid of -6 first by adding 6 to both sides
k / 5 -6+6 = 2 + 6
k / 5 = 8 Then multiply both sides by 5 to get k alone
k / 5 * 5 = 8 * 5
k * 1 or just k = 40

since in this one it is division, you multiply. you multiply the -30 and the 3 to get the -90. just think: work backwards or the opposite. if it's +, then -. if it's *, then /.
-30 = n / 3
n = -90

this one is just like the first one, so if you understood that one, then you'll get this one. (:
x / -5 = -2.6
x = 13

this one gets a bit more complicated, but it's similar. let's take this one step at a time. first, you add the 6 to both sides since it was a -6. then you multiply both sides by 5 since it was divide 5. finally, you get 40.
k / 5 -6 = 2
k / 5 = 8
k = 40

**i hope that all of the above helped!! (:
good luck with the rest of your algebra work! (:

-30*3=n
-2.6*-5=x
2+6= *5=k

This should be right it's been a long time since I took Alg.
You just use the opposite +-*/

the goal is to isolate the variable in each problem so to do that you have to do the opposite functions to each side of the equation. if there is division then multiply both sides to isolate x and vice versa...addition then do subtraction and vice versa...for example in the 1st problem n is involved in division so multiply both sides by 3...do the same for the 2nd problem...in the 3rd problem just add 6 to both sides and multiply both sides by 5.
