Just an opinion question, really. Most of us are here because we're interested in the topic (a few of us are here to de-bunk it, but whatever, it takes all kinds). So, what are you using astrology for?

Yeah, I've often thought of it as a road map as well.

What fascinates me about astrology, though, and what keeps bringing me back, are the layers you can uncover within a chart. So many dimensions to a birth chart, really. Grasp one element of a chart, and then there's another one, and that brings you a bit deeper to the core, and hence reveals a different layer of the person. Grasp that, and there's another one, and so on, hence bringing you closer to the core of the person, and hence to the core of yourself, if it's your own chart that you're looking at, anyhow. Or maybe I'm just rambling...

Yeah, probably.

As a matter of fact, Dave, Saturn just passed over my asc., and it was delightful

jk, so completely not delightful, really. Especially when it sets off a whole chain reaction of aspects in your chart...

Oh well, what's done is done.

As I have been developing a new type of astrology system, I have been pushing the edge with mind-body exercises and meditation. I have used my developing astrology system, as a spiritual tuning device, to keep me from falling off the fine line that is entailed, when pushing oneself extremely hard. I have messed up an awful lot of times, and each time my astrology system had to be overhaul to improve it. I have done this over a 30 year period, so I have been very harden to what I feel works. I have developed real good meditative, and mind- body techniques in the process. Of course I tend to be a nontraditional cutting edge type.

Like you say, so many dimensions in a chart.
It has give me self insight and helped me with difficult life choices. In a way it answers the Big Question: Why am I here?

I use it alot for day to day living. With a cancer sun and scorpio rising I look forward to days whenthe current moon is in a water sign or earth sign as i find those days to go pretty smooth. But I brace myself for days when the moon and sometimes sun is in a cardinal fire and air sign as I am a sun cancer, moon in aries and these are challenging days. But the days i fear the most are "angular days" With scorpio asc and fixed signs on my angular houses, I don't want to leave my house when, for example, the sun is in leo with an aquarius moon. Its weird how often something unfavorable either happens at that time or something comes up days later because of something I did during this time. So basically if i am aware that a challenging aspect is here I have to learn to be cautious and not take the easy way out of things.

But usually its a no win situation If I take the easy way out I pay for it in someway but if instead I meet the challenging day head on and do the right thing it also means I don't have a good day because I have to tackle the problems as they come instead of ignoring or shelving them for later. But at least the latter is more controlable as I know exactly what my "challenge" is instead of being hit by surprise when I later find that my "actions" or "inactions" caused major difficulties.

This is where I now find astrology the most useful to me. Not what I am but what is going to happen to me thru transits. I stopped studying astrology for a couple of years just before saturn went thru my 10th house. Boneheaded decision as I went thru what I deemed a mid-life crisis over my career. A job in which I though was okay turned into my worst nightmare. It was awful and since it was in my angular house it affected my marriage(7th house), my home life(4th), and me(1st house) to a lesser degree until then I only looked at the character trait side of astrology and not the predictive side of it. Thankfully, I still have my job as it is a well-paying job and would not have found anything better financially, I owe that to jupiter in saggitarius trapsing thru my 2nd house adding a protective influence over my finances.

Now I am a true believer in transits and how eerily they affect me. Now that saturn is no longer in leo and out of my 10th house, there is a now a calming influence in regards to my job and marriage etc.

So think back to the last time there was an opposition or square aspect in your angular houses, I bet it wasn't a good day for you. and think back to when saturn was in one of your angular houses, I bet you wouldn't want to relive those particular issues again.

Friend

Astrology has helped me in knowing more about myself and others. It has helped me making more confident about myself. It helped me making many good friends.

I myself have helped myself in many ways. I have been a witness of many break thru in career and other places thru astrology. Astrology is nothing, but a knowledge / calculation of stars. We try to calculate their effect, their habits and more on any human.

Astrology helps making a better human, and alter some of negative time in life. We can sure do wonders with readings like astrology, psychic readings and other readings...

It has been very useful to me in avoiding relationships with people who ask me what my sign is. I always answer: "Stop".

read "The Demon-Haunted World" by Carl Sagan- the best book on astrology ever written!
