Go to www.ShortTermHealthPlan.com and get the Horizons short term plan. You can insure just the baby, and you can do a monthly policy, and just cancel when her dad's insurance kicks in. It is VERY affordable, I have it for my baby and it's great

we need insurance for our one year old,we did have the state welfare insurance for the first 11 months,now shes 13 mos. and her dad is working but no insurance for a couple more months and what if she gets sick and more shots will be needed soon,so can you buy insurance for only a baby or do you have to have an adult on the plan also

Healthy Families. They are not bad and cheap.
My daughter was on it and at that time, my husband and i didn't have any insurance. Also, a lot of doctors accept it. It is through blue cross.

CHIPS is supposed to cover children, but what tricks it plays with age, I don't know. I have never heard of other stuff - most policies are single person or person and family. Even person and spouse only is rather rare.
