And 60% got past TSA screeners at O'Hare. We can just quit saying we "have to fight them over there so that we don't have to fight them here." The terrorists don't need to bother with us "over there." They have a 75% chance of success HERE!

Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11, but airport security was at the very center of the tragedy. Tighter security could have prevented the massacre. Why aren't we protecting our people???

Great question. I believe there are two causes of this serious problem in America.

1) George Washington said that a democracy would not stand without a "moral and educated populace". Most of America's citizens today are either too ignorant or overly complacent in the security and permanence of this country, and simply do not think an attack on our soil could happen - even after the 9/11 wake up call. Truly astounding!

2) Thomas Jefferson wrote "The only security of all is in a free press". We must ask ourselves whether the US mainstream media is free of coercion by ideological bias or big business. The press today is more interested in "easy" stories. Today's big media is celebrity focused, awed by human interest, and clamoring for scandal above all else.

Its no wonder the real news is nowhere to be found - it is hard to put into bite-sized, sound bites for the disinterested, ignorant, and distracted American public. Bottom line - the press is wretched, and we allow them to get away with it!

Hey, Bush used the tactic with the terror alert level. I'm sure Obama is contemplating it or using it. This is why Americans need to question their leaders critically, and be unafraid of what you find out. QUIT BEING SHEEP! Ask what the terrorist alert level is based on, ask how it's supposed to work, ask why we are devoting our efforts to scaring the citizenry with this tool, instead of going out and eliminating those threats. If I told you the rattlesnake threat level was red today, wouldn't you ask me how I knew the level? Wouldn't you ask me how that affects the rules if a rattlesnake does cross our path, or to prevent such an occurrence? Why should the federal government be free from such questions?

Well, then why are we waiting for hours to board planes? Why are we hassled every step of the way? Why can't my relatives come to see me off?

This is just ridiculous!! They spend billions, and kill hundreds of thousands, in a country that had nothing to do with 9/11, and they can't find bombs on planes?????

George Bush, hear me roar: Protect me HERE!!!!! Find the bombs! Find the box cutters!! Get the hell out of Iraq and protect ME!!!!

Some people assume that the Bush Admin. places a high priority on stopping terrorist attacks, which was disproved on 9/11. People might be up in arms, but they're not sure where the free speech zones are located to protest!
People will let their opinions be known on election day.

It's like there is so much bad news people just don't care anymore.
I'm still a bit riled up about the nuclear warheads that were flown over the United States.
We weren't told about it until what, three months later.
"I have become comfortably numb."
(Not really!)

hmm seeings how the concept of racial profiling was banned then the airport security can only check little old ladies and middle aged white business men (who we all know are reponsible for all the terrorist attacks around the world)
its no real suprise that the underpaid and undertrained tsa workers let so much stuff slip by them

Typical government run agency. The D.C. security is run by a private security company and only 10% got by them. See the difference.

It's especially frightening when you remember what happened on September 11 and in the lead-up to it. Even more so when you consider Osama bin Laden's claims that he will destroy us from within, and that he doesn't often make idle threats.
