Lets not underestimate the pakistan cricket team. Indian team should play to their full potential like they played with Australia. If India thinks that Pakistan can be taken less seriously than Australia, then i'm afraid the result would be undesirable for India. In 20/20, they made it to the final too, and put up a competitive performance since they lost by 5 runs.
Luckily Saeed Anwar retired since he was always a very big threat to India and so has Wasim Akram, who happened to be the largest wicket-taker. Afridi still remains and still holds the highest strike rate.
I'm sure India could win, because they just finished playing the world champions, Australia. And that gave them good practice and experience to prepare for Pakistan.
Also games between India and Pakistan turn out to be very high scoring. Both sides often exceed 300, in both chasing and batting first when playing each other. So it should be big entertainment for the crowds.

speaking of statistics -- pakistan has defeated india more times than india has defeated pakistan in both one day and test. Here is the one day record --
108 games played. 64 pakistan won, 40 india won. 4 abandoned.
And here is the test record --
56 tests played, 12 pakistan won, 8 india won, 36 draws.
So pakistan looks to be stronger team than india based on the record. Here is how the result points towards based on the record--

pak may win one day series.
It would be foolish for india to think pakistan is weak. Pakistan has lately given south africa competitive match too.
they defeated s.a. in the last one day and in the one day going on right now which i'm watching, south africa is 184-7 in 46th over.
Not at all to be taken lightly by india. India should play full potential.

im an indian so i believe so
and even they defeated pakistan in the finals of 20-20 cup
this time they have a good team
even the pakistans are not so behind
they are1-1 with south africa
they also have a good team
i think chances are 50/50
but this time india even defeated the AUSSIES who are the world champions so i think they have better team than pakistan(only one percent more)

well if the indian side plays to their potential then definetely we have a chance to win both we'll defenitely win the tests but the odi's i'm not sure but if sachin and ganguly give us good starts we'll definetely win they will be the "x" factor
