I've experienced a few unexplainable events but curiously, the dog and cat were never in the same room when these things happened. But other people were so I know I'm not crazy. I've never actually seen anything though. Maybe the ghost or whatever it might have been was afraid of animals or something. However, our family dog once started going nuts for no reason at all and staring at the corner of the ceiling and our cats have hissed at nothing in particular before but never at the same time that I noticed anything.

I think that the "dogs being able to see ghosts" myth started through assumptions. Anyone who owns a dog knows that sometimes it will be staring outside, just checking stuff out, then all of a sudden it will start barking at something for no good reason (a bag is blown by the wind, a passer-by on a bike, and sometimes nothing at all). We, as the assumptuous and superstitious beings that we are, assume that there's something out there that we just don't see. A ghost, usually.

Cats I don't quite get because any reaction of theirs is in itself questionable. Sudden bursts of energy, random crooning at all hours of the night.

I honestly just think that the pet thing is all myth. Plus, I know a cat or dog wouldn't have the same reaction as me, because I would be either locking myself in a room or on the floor screaming bloody murder.

pets are just like people, only the ones that believe in ghosts actually see them. Most dogs and all cats know that ghosts are nothing more than peoples way of explaining what they do not understand
EDIT PS

I have seen a ghost, so has my neighbors dog

I was very young messing with the ouija board with some friend at his house. We started talking to "the spirit" of the board. His cat was fairly close. He lets out a yowl and jumps on my back. His hair was up and his nails were out (in my back). It really freaked us out. Cat turned up dead not too long after that. Had no idea how it died.

No but my friend did, she was praying a prayer and her cat jumped up and ran out of the room when she told the devil to leave her alone. She was so startled, she said her cat had never done that before.

not really. I think I saw a ghost, but it could be moon light. My dog and cat had no reaction except to purr and bark.

My dog did as a puppy. I was sitting at one end of the sofa, Bubba was sleeping at the other end of the sofa. All of a sudden he jumped up and ran up next to me all the while looking at that end of the sofa. But I didn't see it at that time I had only felt it's presence here. And it is still here.

I have not seen one, but sometimes the pets just start barking and the hair goes up on their backs and then they just kind of sniff the air for no reason, it kind of creeps me out.
