They are four I swear. We can not call the bottom a fifth side, it is completely different. The sides are triangles and they are called sides. The bottom is a square and is called base. Not all pyramids have passages under them. The pyramid of Cheops for instance was built on a flat base. Its passages are in the core of the pyramid. The step pyramid of Sakkara has a vertical shaft with 28 meters in depth ending with rooms and corridors full of jars of food and drinks for the spirit of the King to consume. The number of jars is between 30 000 and 40 000 jars. This is off the point, but I find it interesting and amazing.

Your friend Mohammed is a smart guy .of course if you count the bottom the geometrical shape of a pyramid will have a base and that is its fifth side.
But the pyramids didn't have a flat base like the foundations of a house they often went far down into the ground with passages etc.
So you can argue with him on that point. That if he is referring to the Egyptian pyramids and not a 3D geometrical shape then he is wrong, as they don't have flat bases.LOL

There are 4, the base isn't a side, it is a bottom, and not a side

I'm afraid your friend is right. A pyramid has four upper sides and a bottom side.

Nope, there are are 7 sides to the Great Pyrami of Khufu.

There are four triangular sides.
There is one Bottom side.
There is one Outside
And there is one Inside.

That equals 7.

If you took into consideration that there is a 5th side in the bottom .. then it's actually five ...

5 If you include the bottom.

the base would be a 5th side - but it is not shaped like the sides you see - it is a square.
