Sure they teamed up and everything but people, they were single powerhouses thrown together to make them more unstoppable so their single pushes would be better. Sure they had tag title runs, but they are not true tag teams like the Hardys and Dudleys, Steiners, LOD, E&C (they started out together first). Bret Hart even came from a tag team. So tell me why you think they are considered a tag team?

If you agree with me let me know.

Thanks.

Sephiroth thanks for agreeing.

Donovan T great point. Bret and Randy Savage teamed up a couple times, so throw them in there even though they didn't have a tag title reign...lol...

TMess2 I knew the Outlaws were in the Original DX. Thanks for nothing there.

I THINK I HAVE SAID THIS ABOUT 39801204 TIMES ON HERE. IF THE PEOPLE WHO SAY THEY ARE TAG TEAMS SAW THE TAG TEAMS OF THE 80S THEY WOULDNT BE SAYING THIS. THE ONLY SINGLES STARS TO FORM A TAG TEAM THAT I CONSIDER A TAG TEAM IS MONEY INC. IM NOT EVEN SURE I WOULD CONSIDER THE OUTSIDERS A TAG TEAM.

WHEN I GO THINK ABOUT GREAT TAG TEAMS I THINK ABOUT LOD DEMOLITION MIDNITE EXPRESS ROCK AND ROLL EXPRESS THE STEINERS THE BRITISH BULLDOGS THE NASTY BOYS AND SO MANY OTHERS THAT IM NOT GONNA NAME CUZ IM TOO LAZY.

ALSO ON I SIDE NOTE THIS IS MY 3000 ANSWER.

KEEP UP UR VENTING TONITE ITS ENTERTAINING ME.

There are two types of tag teams -- those in which the wrestler's are tag team wrestlers first and singles wrestlers second and those which are the other way around.

Obviously, the first tend to stay together long enough to get multiple titles. The second tend to only have one title run before they go back off on their own. Both groups are technically tag teams but only the first can be considered among the all time greats.

BTW, DX originally was a multi-member group that had a tag team component. That tag team component is now wrestling in TNA as the Voodoo Kin Mafia.

I wont count DX or B.O.D. as tag teams, but i will try to giv you my view on Rated RKO.

Firstly, these two got me back into wrestling after a 4 year hiatus from all things wrestling.

Anyway - These two were formed, both already established singles stars, to take down a common opponent. They were indeed a team, you can have singles stars and call them a tag team.
All tag teams have...
- A Tag Team name, Rated RKO is the same as The Hardyz
- Speciality Tag Team moves, Rated RKO had the double RKO, con-chair-to (as done by E&C)
- A titantron representing the team, not each star. Rated RKO had one (even though it was never released to the public, shown in Italy)
- Orton and Edge (while they were a true team, ie: champs) didnt have singles matches, they had tag matches - vs Piper&Flair vs DX etc.

It just seems that your view says - You can only be considered a tag team if your not a singles wrestler. (This isnt attacking you, just me interpreting it).

Let me put this to you - If Harry Smith became IC champ next year, then a year later became part of the Hart Foundation, would you consider that a Tag Team?

To me, a tag team is a couple of people who band together to form a teamwork-based wrestling angle, and would travel and be that way for a few years.. I would consider them tag teams if they continually team up over a number of years, and even journey together as a tag team...
examples are some old school tag teams...The Kangeroos, the Blackjacks, the Freebirds...they journeyed together as tag teams in different federations..
Modern day versions are the Steiners, Dudleys, London and Kendrick, Harlem Heat. I would also consider those like Deuce and Domino tag teams also, as well as the Hardy boys, though they are more single wrestlers..
In truth, DX wasnt a tag team, they were a stable with a tag team as members....(The original DX was HHH, HBK, and Chyna). I think using the other popular singles wrestlers as tag teams was pushing their story lines (Kane and Undertaker's brother angle, MVP and Matt Hardy, Cena and HBK, RKO. If you want to place other singles in that catagory, dont forget Booker T and his partners.(Goldust, Test..etc)

You cant consider them a true tag team, you have to place them in the catagory of tag partners for whatever story line that placed them together...(would you call Cody Rhodes and Hardcore Holly a tag team now? I wouldnt)

My criterion for what makes a great tag team.
They are together for at least one good long run
During which they hold the World Tag Titles.
No muss no fuss no dust
No hidden fees or overages no fine print or technicalities.
The Brothers Of Destruction
Chris Benoit & Chris Jericho
DX
All amongst the all time great tag teams, and they are true tag teams.
It doesn't matter a jiggley whiz whether You came from a tag team or ended up in a tag team, if you are part of a great tag team then You are part of a great tag team.
The timing in your career does not matter.
So I disagree, to Me this is all being too wrapped up in technicalities about it.
No offence of course.
Your opinion is just as valuable and important as mine.

I agree with you on that.

If people consider those guys tag teams, then they should consider:

-Shawn Michaels and John Cena
-Stone Cold and Undertaker
-Mankind and Kane
-Matt Hardy and MVP
-Kane and RVD
-Batista and Rey Mysterio
-Chris Benoit and Kurt Angle
You get the point by now....
