I have a 1998 Ford Ranger 5-speed. I have stalled it a couple times, my fault of course... I was just wondering how bad it was for my truck to stall or any car for that matter. How bad is it for your engine when you stall the car?!

How often are we talking about? A couple of times, no. Ten times a day every day, well, something's gonna break. It is a similar question to driving the car in too high a gear, it puts strain on the transmission parts, or in your case, the clutch. So stalling is like that but not nearly as severe as habitually driving your stick shift in too high a gear.

Shouldn't be any problem unless you are doing a lot more than what I call stalling - letting out clutch too fast or stepping on brake without holding in clutch so engine stops

Its not your engine to worry about...its your clutch....

If you have never had your clutch changed and keep stalling it...it is gonna smell like rank *** one time...then you know you are in trouble...
