Buy a router and set it up to use the same subnet as your work laptop. Be sure to set the routers address as the gateway address in your laptop. Of course, the DNS settings might be tricky.

You really need to setup the laptop for DHCP. Talk to your IT Department.

Having a computer switch from using a static IP to DHCP is a fairly simple matter, though it does require that you're able to change the network configuration. Normally, it wouldn't cost anything since it's just a setting on your computer. Since your laptop is protected and you can't change such settings, I think you may be out of luck.

I think at your workplace ur laptop is gets connected to Domain server and network u have is static so when u connect it through broadband its not getting connected to server so just right click on My Computer => Computer name check for domain name make it to Work Group but make sure u are logged in with Administrator to make changes in ur system
Go to Network neighbourhood properties selct TCP/IP Properties and Set it to Autiomatic IP address and DNS
Then check and Also go to Internet Explorer Properties => Connections=>Lan Settings=automatic detect settings => ok
I m sure u internet will work

I do not think you can do it by yourself. Your Internet service provider has to give it to you. Most of the household broadband in India has dynamic IP, as against the leased line would have static IP.

You can't change the laptop's IP without administrator privileges.
You could change your modem/router's settings to work with your laptop, but you will probably have trouble getting DNS to work unless you have the same ISP at home as at work (even then, your workplace could have custom settings). You may also have to change the settings on any other computers you have at home.
My advice would be to talk to whoever manages your work's computers and sort something out with them rather than doing it by yourself.

Release Your IP In The CMD Command Prompt Every Time You Need To Connect.

The first post hit the spot, use a router at home between modem and that workplace laptop; use the router to masquerading/impersonating workplace's network environment. Done that to my wireless not for access problem but just for convenience, talk to the sysadmin in your workplace or even have him do it for you as a personal favour from one human being to another.

Switching to dynamic IP does not call for any cost. your internet provider can do it. But please check whether there is any specific reason for you to have a fixed one. for eg. your emails outgoing server....

I assume that you are rapidshare downloader or a gamer who wants to bypass restriction.......right?????
