2x = 4

Since both are to the same base, the "log" part drops...

for a mathematical explanation, just raise both sides to 10..

10^(log[2x]) = 2x
10^(log[4]) = 4

Just set these two equal to each other because that is what it does in the original equation...

2x = 4
x = 2

check:
log(2(2)) = log4
log 4 = log4...
