When you read contemporary accounts of people who knew Churchill during his long and controversial career, it is apparent he had a very profound effect on just about everyone he encountered. He held strong opinions, was very outspoken ,made plenty of enemies and had many friends and admirers. He had his ups and downs, his failures and successes, but for all that he remains one of the oustanding politicians of the 20th century.
