Juvenile Crime, in law, term denoting various offences committed by children or youths under the age of 18. Crimes commonly committed by children include drug-related offences, theft, and assault. The juvenile courts (a branch of the magistrates’ courts) deal with the great majority of such cases: more serious offences are dealt with in the Crown Court.

CAUSES OF DELINQUENCY:

Many theories concerning the causes of juvenile crime focus either on the individual or on society as the major contributing influence. Theories centring on the individual suggest that children engage in criminal behaviour because they were not sufficiently penalized for previous delinquent acts or that they have learned criminal behaviour through interaction with others. A person who becomes socially alienated may be more inclined to commit a criminal act. Theories focusing on the role of society in juvenile delinquency suggest that children commit crimes in response to their failure to rise above their socio-economic status, or as a repudiation of middle-class values.

Most theories of juvenile delinquency have focused on children from disadvantaged families, ignoring the fact that children from affluent homes also commit crimes. The latter may commit crimes because of the lack of adequate parental control, delays in achieving adult status, or simply because they get enjoyment from it. All theories, however, are tentative and are subject to criticism.

The family unit has also experienced changes within the past two or three decades. More families consist of one-parent households or two working parents; consequently, children are likely to have less supervision at home than was common in the traditional family structure. This lack of parental supervision is thought to have an influence on juvenile crime rates. Other identifiable causes of delinquent acts include frustration or failure in school, the increased availability of drugs and alcohol, and the growing incidence of child abuse and child neglect. All these conditions tend to increase the probability of a child committing a criminal act, although a direct causal relationship has not been established.

Poor parenting, I'm sick of hearing all the people saying it's poverty. I grew up in a neighborhood where most of the families were poor. My friends and I didn't commit crimes because we were afraid of what our parents would do if we got caught.
Besides, look at all the well off kids that commit everything from vandalism, to drug use, to mass murder.
If you're looking for some specific correlation try looking at the rates of single parent families in relation to crime rates. It's tough enough being a good parent when there's two of you working at it. It's a lot tougher doing it alone.

There are many reasons, the absence of a father, parents with drug abuse problems, or juvenile parents to young to teach their children respect. These are only a few, I hope this helps out.

I'd say the lack of good parenting based on parents either having to work many hours away from their child or simple negligence.

Poor parenting, poor adult supervision, bad neighborhood influences, lack of participation in extra curricular after school activities, e.g., sports, academic clubs, etc. Lack of interest in improving socio-economic status via the pursuit of a higher education.

I am unsure what the main cause is, but I believe it has been debated that it is poverty.

Obviously other issues come into play, such as social impact, family, and neurological issues. Take your pick.
