When you first started smoking, what was the reason you started? Did you think it was cool? Was it peer pressure? I am curious about why people start smoking.

the ppl i looked up to most in the world smoked. I saw them do it all the time. I would hear them say "damn i need a cig" and "this new brand is soo good" I had to try it. After all if my parents liked them so much then they cant hurt me right? WRONG! Im 26 and have difficulty breathing because of these wonderful tasting menthols that are destroying me. Smoking is a slow form of suicide its killing me and i know it. Maybe ur next question should be "Why do smokers keep smoking"? I started cause i idolized my parents, I keep smoking because................????

My boyfriend smoked and I thought it was sexy and cool. I continued to smoke for ten years because in the army thats the only way you got a break. Non smokers had to keep working. I finally quit after getting out of the army.

I started at 15 because I hung out with older kids and they all smoked. My parents also smoked so they didn't say too much. But when both of them quit they were manic!

Something about the smell drew me to it, but when i tasted it, i hated it! Nonetheless, I continued to do it because it soon became habit or boredom, and I have been doing it sometimes more often than others for 10 years now. I mean what do you do when you have a 10 minute break? Read a novel? I know that I'll pay for it down the line, but for right now i can't worry about that.

I was 16 and my boyfriend smoked so I pretended like I had been smoking already to be cool to him I guess.

It was forbidden, the grownups did it and cigarettes had to be sneaked. Fun then, not so much later, and I quit in 1996 with ony a couple of lapses.

I WAS 14, NEVER WAS REALLY INTERESTED IN CIGARETTES. THE REASON I STARTED WAS AFTER-TOKE YOU GET 10% HIGHER IF YOU HAVE A SMOKE AFTER WEED. THAN I THOUGHT IT WAS COOL. STOPPED WEED BUT STILL SMOKE CIGS. MY SUGGESTION DONT DO EITHER
