Only you can really make the decision.

Do you find yourself not ready to jump back into school? Are you uncertain on what you want to do? Does the thought of college make you squeamish? If so I would take a year off to get a break and get your head on straight.

Some people are just not ready for the commitment of college right out of high school, some are.

My older sister attempted to go to a junior college for nursing immediately after high school. She flunked out the first semester. Tried again a year later and flunked out again. Then she took some time to work and get her priorities and started college again at the age of 22. Four years later she graduated with a Bachelor's in Business with a 3.8 GPA.

You should go to college when you feel ready. If you need a year I say take it. College is way too expensive to go at half ******.

only u know the answer to that. Do what your heart says. But if you think you're the type who might get too comfortable taking time off, you should consider that. I took a yr. off from my college cuz I didnt waant to graduate being bored w/ my major- psychology. So I took a yr off and took some business & fashion design classes at a local community college, then I went back to my college n graduated. '07 baby.

Don't worry about doing the 4 yr thing. LIfe is different for everybody n if 4 yrs is your plan, great! but if life happens n u gotta take things slow, so be it. As long as you keep your end goal in mind.

Best of luck!

Just "taking a year off" is not a good idea, but if you spend the year after graduation doing something which would enhance your college experience, like participating in some kind of a volunteer project or an educational experience outside a college, can be good for the right person.

It depends. I feel that some people should take a year off because most people don't do to well their first year in school. I would suggest that you go to a community college if and take a couple of classes first if you are going to sit out a year. The down side to sitting out is that a lot of people will never go to school or get complacement because they feel like they are making enough money. What people don't realize is that they can make much more by going to college early.

It depends. Are you going to travel, do volunteer work, write your novel? Or lie on the couch, play video games and eat microwave burritos? If you will make the most of the time, then sure, wait a year. If you just want to loaf, go to school.

Go to college immediately. Believe me you will thank me later!

If you have something interesting, educational, and enriching, and your college will defer you for a year, then go for it.
