Well, mine are rotting out of my mouth right now, as we speak. I have a couple that have broken off at the gumline, and I can't afford to get them pulled.
I went to the dentist once to just have them all pulled, to get them replaced by dentures, and they said they wouldn't even touch my mouth without first going through six months of "gum treatments" that were going to cost me thousands of dollars anyway.
I ended up telling them what they could do with their gum treatments. So I just soldier on...having increasing difficulty chewing food, so doing without eating if what is on the table that night is too difficult for me to chew. I'll never again try "gumming" any food, as I almost choked to death one time on gummed beef.
I still have a very good food processor that was my mother's, so when the worst comes to the worst, I'll be able to turn all my food into pablum.

Yes, I've had back teeth pulled when I couldn't afford a root canal or crowns. It's made my other teeth shift and it's harder to chew food as well as I should. The money just wasn't there, so at the time there isn't anything I could have done differently. Sometimes dentists will work with you now on payment plans or let you put them on a credit card.

I had root canal work done on most of my teeth, but because of genetics, I still ended up losing them. One by one they broke off at the gum line, and the peg teeth didn't stay more than a few years each, so I had them all pulled. I have to agree that the dentures are the worst. I have to use dental adhesive to keep them in, and when you eat, the food gets under the dentures and mixes with it. Plus drinking hot coffee or tea melts the adhesive and they come lose and about fall out while your out dining. I don't even wear mine anymore after I dropped the bottom set and they shattered. That was about 2 years ago.

Yes
and yes I wondered what else I could have done, but I didn't have a choice. I couldn't afford root canals or crowns.
Which really doesn't make sense since they destroy the tooth to crown it!
I'm putting up with a painful filled tooth right now cause I really don't want it pulled, but that's the next step.

Yes they pulled one of mine at the back. And never again. It is awful that they don't let final year Dental students under the Profs. do the Government Health System Dentistry up here in Queensland! They do down in Victoria. And they do a good job too. It's great for people who can;t afford a dentist. $800 for a root canal treatment. Never again. I'll fly to Melbourne and eat dog food.

Having had dentures since my early 20s, I can relate to the rudeness of people. It was very traumatic for me. But I spent a small fortune trying to save my teeth, to no avail. My Dentist, "God Bless" him, made mine look just like my real ones. When people ask, are those your teeth? I say yes, they are,,,, (thinking), I paid for them.

...and I thought it was just me. Same here. I am hoping to get some better fitting ones before Christmas. It is awful. My dentures are pretty but the bottoms slip and slip and hurt. $$$$ and miserable.

A very long time ago. Now I have a partial. Sometimes it's a choice between you or the kids, kids always seem to win.

No, but when it comes time for my root canals to have new crowns, which eventually they will, I'll have them removed. Then I don't have to worry about putting out hundreds of dollars each time they need to be replaced.
I'll never have another root canal done.
