Ok so instead of downloading my game directly to my laptop, i decided to purchase an external hard drive. The game itself runs great on the hard drive, the only difficulty I am having is that none of the custom content i download and install is appearing in game. I am saving the custom content to the external harddrive as well. Im not sure exactly what Im doing wrong, if anyone has any insight it would much appreciated.

The custom content has to go in My Documents. If you look in there you will see an EA Games folder. The CC goes in

My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Downloads

You can move My Documents around (you have to do it properly so look it up first, it's quite simple) but the game will ONLY read custom content files in My Documents not elsewhere on the computer.

ok, save the custom content in to the sims2 /downloads folder
then righ click on the files you download and select "extract here"
make sure your custom content is enabled in the actaul game settings.

Sometimes after you download something you have to go into the folder and click on the file to install it into the game.

each customer content has to be saved on their own particular folder on your sims game.

most downloads come with a 'read me' file.

read it and see which folder that content is supposed to be in =)
