It is very quiet here. All I can hear is my computer fan and keyboard. No cars going by, just the quiet of the surrounding woods. But, although you didn't ask this I have to say that what I "see" out my window over my desk is a beautiful moon with loads of stars. The air is crisp and Autumn is here. If I were answering this question during the day I would hear the chatter of countless birds outside my window.

If I close my eyes and concentrate I could hear a lot, but then I coudln't type. So with my eyes open...
tapping of the jeys, of course, my rather loud & obnoxious computer fan, water flowing through the feng shui fountain in our living room, air flowing through the purifier and the neighbor unlocking and entering her apartment - excuse me, exiting her apartment and locking up again - and calling the elevator. Hmmm.

The rhythm of printing presses running, one has a very loud squeak. The hum of my plate processor, the fan in one of the hard drives, the whirrr of the aerator, the tap of my fingertips on the key board, one of the pressman bellowing orders to his helper.

My husband tinkering with electrical stuff at our kitchen table. He's so hot! And Johann Sebastian Bach's Brandenburg Concerto playing on our computer stereo. And my fingers clicking on the keyboard.

i hear the song lip gloss on the radio, law and order on the tv, my dog snoring, and my mom talkin on the phone.
AND im managing to get my homework done through all these distractions...pretty good multitasker if i do say so myself.

Rain....it's been pouring rain all day. I like it. And I hear cars driving by on the wet road, you know, that swoooshing sound. There's also a fan in the living room, and my Mom just yelled, "Rachel go to bed!!"
