I have a catfish, that i think is pretty normal, and i have now obtained a light for his plant. I'm curious if anyone knows if i should put the light on during the day, or the night, going by when cat fish sleep, i dont want to make my fish sad. I want it to have a happy expierence of living.

If you want to keep the catfish on a schedule, then just make sure that you have the light on at the same time every day. Either way, the catfish will adjust to you, but when you go to bed at night and all the lights are out, that's when they will be the most active (as long as they are nocturnal, which most catfish are). If you feed them during the day, thats fine and the catfish will adjust to this, but it will be more active at night. Hope this helps.

Different species of catfish have different "schedules". Some are active during the day, but others are nocturnal. I personally would keep the lights on during the day, especially if there's any light from the outside visible in the room with the tank.

If the tank is in an interior room, or the curtains/blinds will be closed so there's little daylight in the room, this wouldn't make much difference. You could take a page from reef aquariums and use a dim blue light (even a nightlight with a blue Christmas bulb will do) to create a dawn and dusk effect to see a nocturnal cat in action.

What's most important is the amount of time the lighting is on (for the plant) and that you have the lighting when you're at home to enjoy watching the fish. There's nothing written in stone that the lights have to come on at any specific time, as long as they come on and go off about the same time each day (timers are great!).

EDIT: In public aquaria, nocturnal fish are often put on a "reverse" photoperiod, so the blue (nighttime) lights are on during the day so people can see them when their most active, then the "daytime" lighting is on at night. You could do this as well (what I meant in the above, in case that wasn't clear) unless you have the tank in a bedroom where it would disrupt your sleep.

they like vampires, when the sun is out you go out and play and eat, but when night comes u sleep and rest. well, catfish are opposites, so just turn off the lights when you go to sleep. simple!

honestly eaten it may look. i could wager the sharks, yet i could could comprehend specifically what form of fish the toddlers are. My wager is that the sharks are the only ones sufficiently massive to have eaten the different fish.
